Though Gaviria is Colombian and enjoyed her initial success there, she was born in New York lived in Chile as a teen, and later settled in Miami. She got her foot in the door of the music industry when she was asked to sing back-up vocals for Latin pop superstar Cristian Castro.  She soon found herself singing backup for established artists such as Ricardo MontanerDiego TorresAlessandra, and Victoria. She also saw some of her songs get recorded by established artists. Most notably, tropical music legend Olga Tañón recorded "Una Nueva Mujer," (a co-write with Ximena Muñoz) and Tanon chose to make the song the title track of her 2005 album, Una Nueva Mujer.

Gaviria collaborated with her brother, Jose, on her debut album, A Mi Manera, and Alih Jey de Pena was a contributing songwriter as well.
